Web Hosting Uptime Tracker (2026)
I've been monitoring uptime across 12 hosting providers since 2023 using UptimeRobot and my own scripts. Marketing pages all claim 99.9% — the real numbers tell a different story.
Every host claims 99.9% uptime. Most of them are measuring differently than you'd expect. I run my own monitoring on 12 hosts, 24/7, from external servers. No self-reported data — these are my own measurements. Updated monthly.

What I've Noticed
Managed WordPress hosts (WP Engine, Pressable, Kinsta) consistently top the charts. You're paying for that reliability and getting it.
Cloudways on DigitalOcean matches managed WP hosts at a fraction of the price. Best uptime-per-dollar in my tracking.
Budget shared hosts (GoDaddy, Bluehost) cluster at the bottom. Not terrible — 99.9% is still only 44 minutes of downtime per month — but noticeably worse than the top tier.
RackNerd VPS surprised me. For $10/year, the uptime is better than most shared hosts costing 10x more. Unmanaged means if it goes down, you fix it — but it rarely goes down.
Watch Out For These Pitfalls
- ❌Don't make decisions based on marketing pages alone. Sign up for free trials and test with your actual use case.
- ❌"Best" is subjective — what works for a 100-visitor blog won't work for a 100K-visitor ecommerce store. Match the tool to your actual needs.
- ❌Read the cancellation policy before signing up. Some services make it deliberately difficult to leave or charge early termination fees.
- ❌Check recent reviews (last 6 months), not lifetime ratings. Service quality changes — a great 2023 review doesn't guarantee a great 2026 experience.
